Coast to Coast 2024: Cycling for a good cause
on
I like cycling. And I like doing good. What could be more obvious than pedaling for a good cause? Back in 2020, I cycled across the Alps to Italy to collect donations. As part of "Transeurope 2020", we raised around 6,300 euros together, which went to the "Bicycles for pandemic preparedness" campaign. Now it's time again: I'm going on a second charity tour. And I'm hoping for your support again!
What exactly is Coast to Coast 2024?
Coast to Coast 2024 is the name of my charity tour. I will start on 18 September with my gravel bike in Bilbao in northern Spain and ride around 1,000 kilometers to the Côte d'Azur over the course of ten days. I'm doing what I did for Transeurope 2020: I'm donating one euro for every kilometer I complete. I am also hoping for numerous supporters from your ranks. Please leave me not only numerous comments on my campaign page (which was only accessible until the end of the tour), but also donations. Join me digitally, cheer me on, encourage me and do good! With your and my donation for medical equipment that will benefit a children's ward in Ghana, we will ensure that (seriously ill) children receive better medical care. I hope that at least 4,500 euros will be raised. Let's make the world a little bit better together.
What challenges await me?
Riding around 1,000 kilometers in ten days - well, that alone is a challenge. My tour starts in Bilbao, which lies on an estuary of the Atlantic Ocean. From there I continue to San Sebastian. Later, I pass the Pyrenees near Biarritz and then make my way to Toulouse. The city lies pretty much exactly between the two coasts. I then cycle along the Canal du Midi as far as Narbonne and pass Montpellier on an offshore coastal strip of the Mediterranean as the tour continues. At Nîmes, the route takes me into Provence - parallel to the Côte d'Azur and past Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. In a wide arc, I finally reach the Côte d'Azur. Saint-Tropez is the final destination of my charity tour.

Why am I doing this to myself?
Although the sporting challenge appeals to me and I naturally have the ambition to actually reach the Côte d'Azur, the journey is my real goal. Because cycling relaxes me. You are alone with your bike. You ride with all your senses. You feel the wind, the sun, the nature around you. I recharge my batteries during the effort and find inspiration at the same time. No computer, no online meeting and no ringing phone. Just my thoughts and me. This clears my head and creates space for new ideas. And if I ever doubt whether I can do it, I hope you cheer me up and motivate me to keep going. I'm ready to give it my all!
