A company from the FMCG sector planned to prepare for the demographic challenges of the future in good time and preventively and to make its operations "demography-proof" in order to be able to counter negative effects such as a shortage of skilled workers or an ageing workforce in advance. The idea was to first sensitize all senior managers to the outstanding importance of this topic and then to launch a demography program at a pilot location, which would be rolled out to the other units if successful. The HR Interim Manager was hired to develop the corresponding demography program.
The project began with a general demographic analysis (trends and developments for Germany, the industry and the region) and a company-specific analysis of the relevant demographic factors. A demography exhibition for all employees in the canteen makes the topic "tangible" and tangible for all employees.
Involving all relevant stakeholders and all hierarchical levels, the HR Interim Manager organized demography workshops to derive concrete measures for the four focus areas of "work organization", "health management", "knowledge transfer" and "recruitment" and to create a plan for the coming years.
The concept was then extended to the other units. The manager is currently working on a general "demography-proof company" certification.
