Alphacan Omniplast is one of the leading German manufacturers of high-quality plastic pipe systems for special purposes. The company is part of the French KEM ONE Innovative Vinyles group of companies. In order to maintain competitiveness, the management planned a significant reduction in staff and a realignment of the company.
The HR interim manager quickly developed a pragmatic approach that involved not only the works council, but also the trade union and the AG association.
Together with the department heads, the employees who were to be affected by the staff reduction measures were identified.
In a multi-stage process, it was possible to part with the low performers without having to make any compulsory redundancies. The redundancies were carried out on a voluntary basis and in consultation with the employee representatives. The HR interim manager conducted the redundancy interviews in such a way that the cost framework set by the company was fully adhered to. He also organized a transfer company to which the affected employees were transferred.
During the interim mandate, the manager also took over HR management and initiated the realignment of the company. In particular, he professionalized personnel development and introduced new HR processes. He also supported the management in communication (English) with the management of KEM ONE.
