A pharmacy group with over 120 locations planned to supplement the face-to-face training of its staff with e-learning measures. As the company itself had no experience with modern digital training measures, it commissioned the e-learning expert to develop two attractive pilot learning programs within six months, which would be tested and evaluated by the employees in the pharmacies.
Target groups and content for pilot project agreed
In the first step, the interim manager agreed the target groups for the learning programs, the objectives and expectations of the e-learning project and the budget with the management team. In the next step, he identified the topics for two pilot projects with internal experts: Both programs focused on current pharmaceutical content with a direct link to planned marketing activities on site and in the media.
Content and technical implementation of the e-learning coordinated
The content was designed, graphically prepared and then programmed with internal experts and external service providers from the interim manager's network under his direction.
Suitable learning management system selected
In parallel, the interim manager and the project group defined the organization's requirements for the learning platform, the learning management system (LMS). An LMS is needed to provide learning programs and offer learners additional functions: These include, for example, personal access, registration for content, learning status storage, learning history or the download of learning documents.
After a pre-selection, three LMS providers presented their solutions. As there were still uncertainties regarding the general focus on e-learning, the company initially opted for an inexpensive solution that was available at short notice with potential for expansion at a later date on the recommendation of the interim manager.
Pilot projects are rated as successful by participants
Four months after the initial contact with the interim manager, the first learning program was completed, followed by the second module a month later. The numerous participants rated both the courses and their experience with the LMS as consistently positive.
E-learning becomes an integral part of training
The group therefore commissioned the interim manager to create the structures and processes for e-learning as an integral part of the company's training portfolio.
