More about the interim manager

The interim manager is an experienced (multi-)project manager and expert in setting up and managing large project management offices (PMO). His methodological expertise ranges from the classic (waterfall) approach to agile project management (Scrum). One of the interim manager's particular strengths is his coaching skills: he knows how to motivate and qualify teams and managers, even in the most complex change processes. His professional roots in marketing are crucial to his ability to make a significant contribution to creating a modern collaboration culture and ensuring lasting and effective results in structures and minds through proactive and clear communication.

In one of his most recent projects (2022/2023), the interim manager supported a large medium-sized technology company through a complex transformation process as a senior project manager following a carve-out. Among other things, he was instrumental in setting up the PMO organization and coordinating workstreams between seven business units. The mandate also included an HR reorganization including the introduction of new HR IT systems. In the previous project (2021), the focus was on implementing a new matrix organizational structure in the shortest possible time. The aim was to overcome silo thinking, strengthen team spirit and establish an individualized program for the development and coaching of managers and teams. Prior to this, the interim manager worked as an agile project manager at a global high-tech company, supporting the introduction of a new ERP system as project manager.

Establishing lasting change in people and organizations

The interim manager has been self-employed since 2009. During this time, he has successfully completed more than 30 mandates as a PMO expert and coach. His clients include DAX-listed corporations as well as large medium-sized (owner-managed) industrial companies such as BASF, Roche Diagnostics, Paul Hartmann, Syntegon, Hirschmann, Berner, Essity, Rosenberger, Schlüter Systems and Daimler AG. The expert worked in marketing and sales at the Stuttgart-based car manufacturer for more than ten years, most recently in the management of reorganization and optimization projects.

As a nationally and internationally experienced interim manager, consultant and executive for strategy, conception and implementation of operational excellence, the expert claims to not only think ahead, but to think with you. When it comes to implementation, he offers his clients a broad portfolio of skills as a consultant, coach and moderator. This includes PRINCE2, Scrum and other agile project methods, a solid background in applicable lean principles such as Kanban and process optimization as well as coaching and training qualifications.

Clients and teams alike attest to the interim manager's strong empathy, level-headedness and communication skills, which means he is perceived as a reliable anchor even in stormy phases of projects. As a highly evaluated trainer and moderator of everything from leadership to meeting culture, he is used to addressing issues clearly and specifically, motivating through quick wins and best practices, working together and encouraging even in unpleasant project times. His pragmatic approach as well as his open and very appreciative human nature make him a valued sparring partner and team member.
