A long-established supplier to the automotive industry had decided to actively shape electrification with new products. A consulting firm selected 2 possible product structures: Traction batteries for e-vehicles and stationary charging equipment. The interim manager was hired to drive the development of the products forward quickly. The first charging system was to be available on the market within 12 months for the next International Motor Show.
Team set-up successfully completed within a very short period of time
The interim manager took up office a few days after the first meeting. After gaining an overview, he formed a project team. He appointed a team leader for the loading equipment division. He also recruited new employees in collaboration with the HR department.
In the next step, the interim manager initiated the creation of the specifications for the charging system. At the same time, he commissioned a development office with the conception and design of this wallbox. To complete the specifications, he also designed and moderated a value analysis workshop. The function structure developed in the workshop formed the guideline for the team on the way to the first wallbox on the market with embedded electronics.
Commissioning of the first devices at the new production site
A production site with expertise in the manufacture of electronic products had to be found for implementation. The interim manager identified a production site as part of a technical due diligence process, which was then taken over as the production site. The first devices for the development-accompanying tests were already successfully produced there. The interim manager organized the test procedures and validation.
Parallel to product development, he monitored environmental and safety tests as well as approvals for individual components and assemblies. This saved a considerable amount of time for the project.
First wallbox with embedded electronics successfully established on the market
The product development was completed within the planned time of 12 months. The qualification of the product was based on automotive standards. As the first wallbox with embedded electronics, the product quickly established itself successfully on the market. The wallbox has received awards from ADAC and Stiftung Warentest, among others.
