As Head of Product, the interim manager was tasked with transforming technological prototypes and technologies in the development of an action cam into a market-ready product. He was also tasked with supporting the team leader in setting up a near-shore software development team.
Strategy and concept designed for multichannel product
The interim manager worked with the team to develop a strategy based on the existing prototypes and technologies. The concept was based on the interaction of the product with iOS and Android app, web browser software as a service and cloud-based portal as well as the development of a community. Under the leadership of the interim manager, the team defined use cases and revised all operating concepts. The development work was carried out in neighboring countries (near-shore). The interim manager also spent time there regularly.
Developing product marketing with online channels and partnerships
The interim manager's team built up the product marketing with a sales website, brochures, support forum and sales support measures. They also developed and implemented branded solutions with a well-known car manufacturer and externally effective projects with renowned sports retail chains, a renowned online video platform and a well-known drinks manufacturer.
Successful exit talks prepared and accompanied for company sale
After the product was ready for the market, exit talks were held at the request of the shareholders and led by the CEO. Among other things, the interim manager prepared pitches in the USA, including in Silicon Valley, and accompanied the CEO. Due to a staff departure, the interim manager took on the role of Chief Product and Technology Officer during this time.
The interim manager transformed the technological prototypes and technologies into a saleable product. A well-known exit partner was found who took over the company and further developed the products.
Further development of the product and smooth integration of the team
The interim manager continued to act as a consultant in the acquiring company in the role of Senior Product Manager and was largely responsible for the further development of the product with the involvement of all specialist departments of the acquiring company and reported directly to the CTO of the acquiring company. He also played a key role in the smooth integration of the team into the acquiring company and reported to the management in the role of Integration Manager.
