More about the interim manager
The interim manager is an expert in the management of complex projects. His expertise extends far beyond pure project organization: as an experienced C-level executive, he has repeatedly led projects and companies back onto the path to success from very critical situations. The graduate engineer with special industry experience in the transportation sector (rail and railroad) and plant construction as well as extensive international experience is usually engaged as a manager at management level or as a troubleshooter for stalled projects. Another focus of his work is mandates as a client representative in commercial building construction and civil engineering.
In his most recent mandate (August 2022 to July 2024), the expert acted as client representative for an internationally active German company in the field of metallurgical and rolling mill technology for the construction of a new company headquarters for 1,500 employees. He led the project (volume: 200 million euros, 50 subcontractors), which was on the verge of failure when he took on the mandate, to a successful handover to the user during the two-year assignment. Prior to this, he was responsible for personnel management, communication and customer contacts for three months as interim site manager at a medium-sized German provider of warning systems for rail construction work.
In his largest mandate to date, the interim manager was responsible for the overall project management of the signaling technology for the European train control system for the construction of the Rhine-Alpine corridor (project volume approx. 1.5 billion euros) at DB Netz from September 2019 to December 2022. For Siemens Schweiz AG, he optimized the risk management system for the internal process audit.
Leads international projects with strong communication and intercultural skills
Before becoming a self-employed interim manager (since 2018), he was an executive and project manager, including for international rail transport companies. One core theme runs through his CV: Almost all positions involved managing special projects, often with the initial use of previously untested or little-tested technologies and all the associated risks. The interim manager also managed complex projects with many interfaces or unusual organizational constellations effectively and efficiently. The scale of his projects was always in the two to three-digit million euro range - or more. Many of these projects were in the public eye or were of great entrepreneurial importance.
In addition, the expert impressed his employers and clients with assignments that required particular intercultural expertise. For example, he spent five years in the UK and Ireland, two years in Eastern Europe, four years in Turkey and one year in Asia. He has repeatedly used his special communication skills to successfully persuade conflicting partners to find solutions or to work for his clients in public authorities and politics.
